I don't know if anyone has had any experience in carrying out inductions / remotley or away from a  physical site?  I have a client who is based overseas and has several sites around the UK.  They have no physical office in the UK or any full time employees here but do have contractors carry out maintenace work on their behalf.

They brought up the topic of site inductions and where usually a contractor would attend a site induction in a site office prior to starting work this cannot be the case. I have been looking into software like Adobe Sign which i currently use for contracts. A solution I thought of was for a pdf induction that the person would be required to read and sign prior to beginning work digitially.

Does anyone have any other ideas/ solutions that they use or can see any issues with suggested above?

Thanks in advance.... G

It's quite common for sites to use a video as their induction method, so that might be an alternative - as a video can be viewed anywhere?

But possibly better to ensure the contractors are trained in dynamic risk assessment, i.e. they know the typical hazards they might encounter and how to implement their own proportionate on-site controls? (including walking away in the worst circumstances!). Again, this could be documented online if you feel you need a record for every visit - but probably better to set a competence standard an have a process that ensure individuals meet it? The approach you take should be 'proportionate' to the range and severity of likely hazards they may encounter.

thanks 1 user thanked imwaldra for this useful post.

thanks, it's generally low risk work, grass cutting, window cleaning, fence painting. just need to make the contractors awre of the general hazards and emergency proecdures.

They will have submitted RAMS, Qualifications and completed PQQ's prior to being awarded the job.
