Our factory is the area with upper noise exposure action value so there is mandatory requirement to wear ear defenders. Next door to the factory is a warehouse and on the other side canteen and toilets. My question is - what is your opinion of wearing ear defenders for warehouse staff which only walk to the canteen and toilets a few times a day for literally 10 sec each time?at the moment i tell them to wear pep all the time however is there any possibility to exclude them from it?thank you

I would think those walking to and from the area would be exposed to minumum noise and therefore could be exempt from wearing ear defenders. The daily exposure rate could easily be calculated based on a notional 4/5 trips per day through the area.
