Working at Height - Health Surveillance?
Rank: Forum user
|
Hi everyone,
I've been led to believe that health surveillance is required for operatives that work at height.
Apparently it forms part of the WaH Regs 2005.
Not sure where this reference came from and I'm unable to find it in the body of the regs or the HSE website.
Any ideas if this is correct for 'mast climbers' as an example?
Thanks in advance

Hi DHM, I work for a rope access company and undertake no health surveillance.
There are no effects to health that I know of that come from simply being at height, unless you're working in a low oxygen environment.

Not a legal requirement. However sometimes health screening is undertaken to ask if there are any health issues (such as vertigo!) that might cause problems at height.

Hi this is not a requirement however some companies are members of Costructing better health group (CBH) and this gives guidance on critical workers and health survelance there is a bbok you can download free from the web site which tell you all you need to know from them (CHB standards issue 2)
