Hello everyone.
We are looking into dumpers with cabs on. Seems to be the way forward. Does anybody know if the operative will be allowed to stay within the cab while it is being loaded?? The article i read reckons the operative can stay within the cab. I was just wondering if anybody has any other views?? Thanks.

Could you perhaps post a link to a picture of the type of vehicle you are looking at?
I used to work in quarrying industry where all our 'dumpers' had fully enclosed ROPS cabs which the drivers stayed in during loading but then again we were using 40+ tonners and I suspect what you are looking at will be smaller than this.

As mentioned above, unless full ROPS protection is provided I would never allow an operative to stay in the cab. and to be honest even with ROPS I would be very hesitant unless absolutely required.

Well constructed machine but would I still be happy to leave an operative in there while an excavator bucket is swinging about??? no!

I'm no plant expert but I have similar misgivings with leaving the operator in the cab. If I recall correctly excavator buckets can weigh as much as a ton in weight, would that cab be robust enough to withstand that sort of impact? A mini-digger bucket might well be ok.
For a definitive answer I would be inclined to contact the Construction Plant-Hire Association or similar body.
