I have an employee who has injured their knee in work as a result of a slip. They returned to work without any lost time however 2 weeks later they have been diagnosed with a tendon problem and are going into hospital for an operation on the knee. The empoyee will be off work for a while due to the operation.

The operation is taking place this week as they have private medical care.

Question - should we report this as a RIDDOR reportable event as they will be off work greater than 7 days even though they returned to work following the accident.

Thanks

Mal

We had something similar to this on here a few weeks back. As I understand it this would not be considered reportable by HSE as the causal chain would be broken...
