Hi, I have been asked by a friend if I would speak to the committee of a community youth orchestra. They run the local youth orchestra as volunteers (unsure if they are officially a charity - assume that they are) and want a talk on their H&S responsibilities as the people who run this group for the kids.

I have never been involved with work with kids or charitable organisations and wondered if anyone had any pointers they could offer to get me started with what their responsibilities will be.

Thanks in advance

Laura

Responsibilities are similar to an organisation, I am chair of a local tennis club and we have a H&S Policy (brief) and undertake risk assessment for our activities, reporting process for incidents and have a 'Welfare Officer' who has received appropriate 'Safeguarding' training.

It can be kept to a simple level just to ensure they have considered the health and safety risks.

Most counties have a support network for voluntary organisations which can include trainng for Trustees if it is set up as a charity.
