We are about to install some big expanses of glazing and it is likely that the kite marks will be covered by the frame/supporting structure. Someone has raised the issue of how do we show at some point in the future that the glazing is up to the appropriate standard? I am leaning towards the view that the O&M manual and bill of quantities etc should show what was installed and if we accompany that information with installation photos, that should be OK. However I would welcome other views and suggesetions of how to get over the issue.
Thanks in advance.

BSI will have guidance on the application of their Kite-Mark - the manufacturer would have to consider the fitment to ensure the Kite-Mark where applied was legible (not obscured) So have you asked the supplier how and where the mark is applied? If they come back that labelling is on the side of the frame (rather than etched in the glass) and would be obscured by installation then inclusion in the O&M where component specifications & instructions would be present is a sensible approach for potential future queries

Building Standards Officers (Building Control) can be fussy about the etch being visible.
A relatively simple matter to ask the supplier to etch at dimensions of your choosing before dispatch?
