Folks

Can any one kindly help.  Would anyone have a SOW and risk assessments for loading/unloading a tipper trailer that they wouldn't mind sharing.  A friend who is a one man show has been asked by a Quarry.  He needs to get it to them for tommorow.  If I had a template I could personalise to his vehicle and details he gives me.  Unfortunately I dont have alot of time.  Any help be appreciated.  Eddy

Haven't read this is full but knew there would be something on this website that would be specific to tippers on quarries from previous experience: http://www.safequarry.com/hotTopics/MPA%20118pg%20A5%20DRIVERS%20Handbook_JUNE%2016_WEB.PDF

If that's not suitable you might find something that is on the www.safequarry.com website

Just had another thought on this and when I previously worked in a quarry for the site operators we were responsible for the risk assessments/safe systems of work for all the tipper drivers who worked for hauliers entering the site under the Quarry Regulations (if I remember right its Reg 14).  We devised the safe operating procedures, which included minimum vehicle specifications, travel routes, communication between driver/loading shovel driver, sheeting/unsheeting areas, which all drivers were issued with (and signed for).  Tell him to ask the quarry operator for the relevant sections of the vehicle rules required under the Quarry Regulations.

Have a look at pages 35/36 of the HSE ACOP:  http://www.hse.gov.uk/pUbns/priced/l118.pdf
