Good Afternoon all,

I'm currently putting together a staff induction manaul for new starters to our company. I'm looking for ideas of what I should be including.

I have some generic bits about management structure, H&S Policy, and information regaurding employment such as sickness and greivance etc but what else should I include?

I appreciate its not strictly speaking health and safety related but someones got to do it so it may as well be me!

Thanks everyone

Nick

Hi Nick,

Have you considered some links and phone numbers for IT services, HR, payroll and any other department which a new starters may wish to contact. I would also include things like how to find your timesheet, leave form, sickness forms, expenses and any other internal forms or intranet sites which might be useful.

Emergency evacuation procedures and assembly points,
Management structure for reporting (responsiblities,),
Smoking policy,
Additional expectations or use of appropriate language etc

It depends on whether your company offers further training and has official policies in place as to the depth of inductions however I would ensure that all areas are covered that you would expect contractors and visitors to comprehend (procedures in the case of emergencies, prohibited/restricted areas, first aid protocol, responsible person's/heierachi, personal roles and responsibilities and independent services/support/complaints= HR)
