Hi all, Can anyone help me? im currently using Arco for glove recomendations for chemicals along with breakthrough times however thier responses are taking to long. We dont use chemicals in large amounts and nothing to nasty, however work is small item manufacture so the gloves need to be of the tight fitting disposable nature. Can anyone recommend another glove supplier? alternativley can anyone tell me how they work out which glove to use and the breakthrough time?
Thanks in advance.

I found Ansell (manufacturer) helpful - Arco put us in touch with them direct and they did a review with us. Ansell also publish lots of glove data on their website.

Arco quote breakthrough times for each glove on their website so what other information are you waiting for? Remember that the breakthrough time is in relation to continuous immersion in the liquid or continuous exposure to the liquid. Disposable gloves of any sort are rarely suitable for anything other than laboratory use. If you post a bit more information like the type of manufacture and the chemicals in use I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you what you need straight off.

Manufacturers' published permeation breakthrough times are virtually meaningless in establishing the actual permeation breakthrough times when gloves are used. In the first place they are based on a laboratory test according to EN374, which is itself flawed as the test is done at room temperature as opposed to skin temperature. Many different factors will influence what you achieve in practice and establishing the real performance can be difficult, although there is a method for testing under actual conditions of use. This is covered in chapter 18 of "Protective Gloves for Occupational Use" (Boman, Estlander, Wahlberg, Maibach, eds., ISBN 0-8493-1558-1 -- Chris
