Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any information they may have used with regards to mobile devices (ipads, smartphones etc.)

What advice has or is given to staff regarding the use of these devices in terms of the effects on health and wellbeing. There is advice on some internet sites surrounding CTS and "i pad shoulder" but it is quite vaige.

As out staff are encouraged to become more agile workers has anyone got a fact sheet for advice of usage.

Many Thanks

Simon

Hi Simmon,

The HSE's view is that: portable DSE such as laptops and handheld devices are subject to the (DSE) Regulations if in prolonged use for work purposes. People who habitually use portable DSE should be trained in how to minimise risks, for example by sitting comfortably, angling the screen so it is easy to read and taking frequent breaks. Wherever possible, portable DSE should be placed on a firm surface at a comfortable height. Where portables are in prolonged use at the user's main place of work, additional steps can be taken to reduce risks, e g by using a docking station.

Hope this helps.
