Hello all,

Has anyone on here used a powered stacker? I have been at workplaces where a forklift or pallet truck are used, but not this item.

Does anyone have any info on this?

I have the hirers safety info.

Thanks

We operate a small fleet of them - what do you need to know?

Hi ya,

Thanks for your reply. Can the forks be left in the elevated position with a load?

"left in the elevated position with a load"

Do you mean stationary or when moving the load?

If you mean stationary then I'd say NO. The centre of gravity is raised and an unintentional collision by another vehicle could topple the stacker. Also a hydraulic or other power failure would be a hazard if forks/load dropped.

If you mean when moving, this should avoided as it obstructs vision and risk to racking and pedestrians is high. In the manual I have, the manufacturer says:

Moving Machine with a Load It is best to move the machine without load. Moving a raised load should be restricted to positioning for loading and unloading. If it is necessary to move the machine with a raised load, understand and obey the following safety rules: 1) Area is level and clear of obstructions and people. 2) Load is correctly centered on the forks. 3) Avoid sudden starts and stops. 4) Travel with load in the lowest possible position.

If by this question you mean is it possible to leave the forks in the elevated position when loaded then the answer is "yes it is"  on the other hand if you mean is this something that drivers should do or is desirable to do then the answer is no
