Hi all Sorry if this thread has already been addressed in the past, but could someone please advice me on what is an acceptable H&S Procedure that we should produce to protect both the employee, the H&S Manager and the company. We all know that long winded procedures are difficult to introduce, but just how detailed should they be?
If anyone has an example of a procedure that has passed the judement of the courts following an HSE investigation 'as being satisfactory', that would be great.
Kind regards DT

A procedure for what, or are you referring to a template for writing procedures?
Not sure there is any standard template which would satisfy the regulators or the courts because it is more about what the procedure states as it is the format.

Hi Ray
My request in all honesty was a cry for support by a frustrated H&S Manager, while having a bad day at the asylum.
Kind regards

The problem is that what is satisfactory depends entirely on what you are doing, why, where and how. What is satisfactory in one workplace won't be in another. When writing a procedure I start off from the point of view that I am writing a reciepe - Ingredients become equipment and then the method is a bullet point list. But like a lot of things in H&S you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince ie the way of writing them thats suits what you do and your organisation.
