Do old fire doors have to be fitted with intumescent strips? I have been given tow conflicting responses from the fire risk assessor and building maintenance company.

That is possibly because a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer is not necesarilly correct. That said, it's my understanding that for a door to achieve FD30 performance an intumescent seal is required between the door and frame.

I suggest it is worth reading Fire Safety in Purpose Built Blocks, especially 'Fire-resisting doors' section on p97.

i thought that older fire doors were fine as long as there was a rebate of at least 10mm?  just dipping my toe into fire related stuff so i could be wrong!
