Not sure what it is really classed as??? Also does anyone know if the resulting fine particles of steel andaluminim are classed as a hazardous waste or if it has any disposal restrictions? Happy New Year all

I was hoping this would of been plastic lasering as thats what we deal with. Anyways, laser cutting metal will fall under similar conditions as welding metal http://www.hse.gov.uk/welding/fume-welding.htm

Hi
My current employer has a number of laser cutters for metal. Interms of COSHH is the laser vutter fitted with and extraction system? Or when you say laser are you meaning plasma?
You may need to consider air sampling around the cutters as well as perosnal to determine exposure.
In terms of the laser dust this for dipdsal this will be down to your waste supplier dependant on the tyupe of metal being cut. Ours general goes off site as hazardous waste with the metal carcassess going as scrap metal for recycling.
