Hi all,

does anyone have an old pdf of the HSG 141 please. I know it's withdrawn, but I don't mind.

Many thanks in advance

pdf would be a copyright breach. You might be better having a look for hard copy in your local library?

A copyright breach for freely distributed materials by the HSE themselves? I'm glad the H&S profession doesn't have the industrial perspective of being 'problem identifiers', imagine if we moved to 'solution finders' rather than being the 'bearers of knowledge', I wonder what could be acheived.

To those reading this post and can help. Thanks in advance. Given recent developments in construction site fire safety I'm happy to read as many old & new reference / guidance materials as possible as part of my CPD. This post was never intended to be political or devisive, thanks to anyone who help.

Sometimes web site attaches pdf copies of guidance to their web sites, if you hunt long enough you may come across an old web site which still retains a freely downloadable copy. Whether they should or not is another matter. Watch version control as they could be very old.

I think these documents do have a copywrite logo on them, but are then free to download to anyone, so makes you wonder why. There are internet companies selling them, so who knows their actual status.

Chris

Hi

Don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but you could try this link:

http://regulations.completepicture.co.uk/pdf/Health%20and%20Safety/Electrical%20safety%20on%20construction%20sites.pdf

It's an old version (circa 1998 I believe), but hopefully it'll help ?

Hi Chris & Elfin (?)

Both very useful and obviously the link helps. I suppose I should have helped myself earlier by stating I already had it, including printed out. But I cannot find it on my hard drive, as I keep a virtual Library for guidance and technical documents. If it isn't in Electric or CDM / Construction I'm litterally lost, and needless to say I can't find it.

Thank you for your comments. And Elfin for the link

Let’s clear up Crown Copyright: yes the HSE documents are subject to Crown Copyright and in theory they could make you pay for the information they contain but as a rule they do not. Instead they have issued an Open Government Licence that allows you to make copies and pass them around with certain restrictions.

These include:

  • The right to look at copy etc private, secret or confidential documents that are not intended for release to the general public
  • You can’t use this to imply an endorsement of a service or product you provide or to imply that you are working for the government if you are not
  • Implying that the government  is somehow responsible for any actions that you may take based on advice given in the documents ie they are purely advisory

More information is available here http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/

Thankfully they don't have an army of lawyers to pursue action unlike the music/film industry

Or the desire - $700,000 buys a lot of milk for a certain inetrnet cat!
