Hi, I'm looking for some advice with regard to crossing the road with a MEWP. We have a bi-fuel nifty lift HR12NDE. We have two sites on an industrial estate. There is a road between our two sites and the MEWP crosses the road to get between the sites.
I can find legislation about actually driving on the road and for working on public highways. I cannot find anything that says about crossing the road with a MEWP.
We use banksman/travel marshalls when crossing the road, but I was recently told that it can't go on the road at all, even to cross it. The closest to our situation I could find was unloading on a road and then travelling to the usage destination, which mainly talked about suitable road surfaces.
Does anyone know where we fall on a legal standpoint and what is required?
Thanks

Thanks for the information. Since it mainly focusses on FLT's, I'm not sure I understand the position for MEWPs.
As they are not a Work Truck does that mean as long as it is licensed in the Private Light Goods (PLG) tax class it is fine to cross the road?
