Potentially looking for a company to produce an induction video for one of our sites. Can anyone recommend a company they've used please? I've tried the old google but I'd much prefer to have recommendations and experience based views.

To be honest as painful as it is to free up time to do an induction face to face I would always say that this is the best method.  You can't ask a question of a video and for many people half of it won't be relevant.  I can't tell you how many times my heart sank when I was doing Insurance Survey work and knew that I would perhaps spend an hour with an insurance manager but had to sit through nearly 45mins of video which told me nothing I needed to know and nothing of relevance to me.

thanks 2 users thanked Hsquared14 for this useful post.

I would also like to caution against this as I've worked for companies that used to have a video induction (sometimes made professionally at enormous cost) but no longer used it as it had become out of date and misleading.

If you do want something to park people in front of (and as Hsquared14 says this is by no means as good as face to face) then I recommend making a Powerpoint presentation in-house which can incorporate photos, diagrams, video segments, an audio commentary and so on,  but with the advantage that you can more easily update it and also tailor it to different audiences.

I agree. Its not intended to replace the face -to-face aspect, more support the induction process for permanent employees. But there are times when we want to induct a single visitor who'll only be on site for a few hours and its not practicle to do a one to one induction for the limited site exposure they'll receive. Ideally, what we'd like is a video based induction to cover the essentials and things which will not change and then support this the face-to-face element to cover particular issues in depth, answer questins and cover the aspects that may change on site over time.

I suppose one option is just to do the powerpoint on its own for short duration visitors but I think the business would like something more professional.
