hi all,

We have been told that the welfare facilities need to be a 'reasonable distance' from the site under the CDM regs. Does anyone have any idea what a 'reasonable' distance is??

I am aware of an FFI issued as the welfare was 0.7miles from site, the inspector considered this to be too far away?

Any thoughts guidance would be appreciated?

thanks

0.7 miles is a curious distance. That is 1,126.5 metres - or roughly the same distance as the length of The Mall in London between Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square!!!!

No wonder that distance was deemed a little to far!!!

If you are involved with the actual case it would be interesting to hear what the Inspector thinks reasonable.

It all depends on the nature of the project including issues such as availability of transport to speed up access and whether SOME welfare facilities are closer to the point of work.

There are lots of infrastructure projects where the main facilities would often be more than 0.7 miles from the point of work. This doesn't prevent also having some smaller mobile facilities.
