Good Afternoon, I wonder if any of you have had any updates on the requirement for dump trucks to be fitted with cabs. I know there has been a lot of discussion about this and talks have been ongoing with the Civil Engineering Contractors Association being heavily involved.
We have a couple of dumpers which are nearing the end of their useful life and if the law is likely to be changed in the near future, we would be looking to replace them for ones with cabs, otherwise we will spend money on keeping them going. Thanks very much for any light you can shed

Personally speaking, I hope the spirit of the law comes into play in this discussion. English law gives us the basic bare bones minimum, so why wouldn't you (us/everybody) not empathise with the worker and put them in a cab? The extra cost should not be a factor when you are looking to keep workers happy and safe - no matter what the current law says. Prove to your customers and clients that safety and worker welfare are driving forces, not merely afterthoughts.
