Where are the frequency of pressure vessel thorough examinations derived from?
14 month (autoclaves) - my reference is to a dental practice
26 month (compressors) - my reference is to a dental practice
I understand that other factors need to be considered such as age of equipment, istoric breakdown issues, visual degradation etc...but for a reasonably suitable appliance (dental autoclave and dental practice use compressor in this case) I can't locate any reference of this in L122 (or should I be searching elsewhere)?

The 14 month time frame comes from the old Factories Act. The old mills would traditionallly shut down once a year at Whitsun (and the whole town would have the week off –Wakes week) and that is when they would service everything in the mill including boilers and LEV.
The old Whitsun holiday started on the eighth Sunday after Easter, and as Easter is a moveable feast it was not the same week every year so the 14 month rule was introduced accommodate this.
We have kept the 14 months even thought the equivalent holiday now is fixed as the last weekend in May.
