Hi

I have just been carrying out a COSHH assessment on Diesel . The business I'm in we have many Diesel tanks with dispensers on them up and down the country mainly to fill up HGV's etc..

It dawned on me as I was filling in exposure controls as part of the COSHH whether the tanks and pumps and associated equipment are serviced and maintained.

I've searched a lot on the internet for information, perhaps a written scheme exists for inspections and servicing as per some sort of ACOP but I can't find any.

If we own the kit the onus is on us to maintain but I'm unsure against which standards. I've been onto the EA and completed a search on the .gov.uk wensite but it yeilded 6000 plus results not very helpful.

Any guidance appreciated

Have a look at the Env Agency publication below it should give you an indication of what is expected and lead you in the right direction....

In my haste I believe I posted the guidance which excludes England. I believe the guidance for England is this, (it may have been updated since).

Can't quote the standards etc off the top of my head but I can get them from our maintenance company.  We have just had new tanks fitted and the regime for them is 6monthly inspection and service as specified by the manufacturer / installer.
