I need to produce a basis legionella assessment to inform a decision on whether we get specialists in to conduct a full survey and risk assessment. Do any of you know of any tools or examples that I could access to help with this?
Thanks

Hello,
As a starting point you need to check if any of your water systems, with the right environmental conditions, could be a source for legionella bacteria growth. There is a reasonably foreseeable legionella risk if water system: - has a water temperature between 20–45 °C
- creates and/or spreads breathable droplets, e.g. aerosol created by a cooling tower, or water outlets
- stores and/or re-circulates water
- likely to contain a source of nutrients for the organism to grow, e.g. rust, sludge, scale, organic matter and biofilms
If all your water is from the mains then focus on the places that water may sit for longer periods such as unflushed toilets etc. then evaluate the risk and decide on arrangements. Tell me more about your workplace and water systems you have I may be able to help you more.

I have a fairly comprehensive Legionella audit document I can send you. It does assume the RA has been completed but it will give a good idea of what a RA should contain. PM me your email and I will send it over.

Hi Bunster, I am also currently looking at the Legionella risks in our premises and would greatly appreciate a look at the audit document you have mentioned. I don't think there are any high risk areas here apart from two showers which employees use from time to time; however I'm no expert. Would you possibly be able to send me over theocument?
GB1977 - I am glad you have raised this question as I was going to post the exact same qquestion once I got home today!

Hi,
I am looking for some advice on who/what the duty holder is required to do in relation to legionella? We are a multi site business and each site has an appointed responsible person, who has been trained, in relation to water systems (domestic and cooling towers). My question: Can the company be the duty holder or does it need to be a named person? If it is a named person, do they require a specific level of legionella related training or is it sufficient that they have appointed responsible persons? Advice and guidance is much appreciated. Cheers
