We are looking at job which entails collecting a large quantity of old glass specimin slides which contain human samples that were used for diagnostic testing. We are then transporting these to a seperate site for incineration. There is no reason to believe that they contain any samples of infectious diseases.

Does this come under ADR assigned to UN3373?

I think that the most likely classification is UN 3291- Medical (Clinical) Waste - This consists of those consignments that it is reasonable to believe that although they are medical (or clinical) waste they do not contain any infectious substances. If they do they should be classified as UN 2814, UN 2900 or UN 3373

Or it could be one of the exempted categories- eg “Patient Specimens where there is minimal likelihood of pathogens being present. The packaging must be leak proof and be labelled “Exempt animal specimen” or “Exempt human specimen” as appropriate.”
