Hi all, I need some advice on conducting a multi occupancy fire drill. The building is a row of shops with 2no. floors of individual office above; 20+ individual occupancies. It the past these drills have been very poorly actioned with the vast majority of occupants not responding at all, others have sent individuals out to see what is going on! Shops below have carried on serving customers. So, can anyone suggest how best to conduct this drill? Do we: Set off the alarm and wait at the designated assembly point to see if anyone arrives? Set off the alarm and have someone knock on doors to remind people to evacuate? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Gazbut

If you are conducting the drill 6 monthly, I would send an email to all interested parties about a month before the drill and remind them of the correct response to the alarm and remind them where the RV point is.
When you record the results, state that X,Y & Z companys participated and A,B& C didn't.
You have then exercised your due diligence

I more or less agree with Mark-W. First you need to communicate the evacuation procedures to the occupants (and explain why it matters that they evacuate), then run the drill, then you can communicate again based on what happened.
