Hi,

IP attended annual work related conference in Paris. Stayed at a chateau. IP used a mountain bike provided by chateau to commute within the grounds of the chateau. Mountain bike chain locked up (no evidence), IP fell and broke collar bone plus other minor injuries to legs and arms. IP attended hospital in Paris where injuries above was diagnosed. Is this a work-related injury or is the chateau responsible for the maintenance of the mountain bike which may have contributed to this accident.

Was it a work activity to ride a bike to explore the ground?

To me its not a work related.

No. It is not a work-related activity to ride a bike. The chateau provided mountain bikes for the whole group (circa 50) and unfortunately, the chain on his bike locked off and IP was forcibly ejected and sustained serious injuries.

Frolic of his own, not your work related. If they want to put a claim in against chateau as a member of public that is up to them. I would not even have this in the accident book.
