traffic/pedestrian management

WAH

MH

Racking/inspections etc

slips trips falls

work equipent/FLT etc

any other advice would be most welcome☺

I would consider items such as LOLER testing, with regards to the FLT and any lifting attachments that may be in use.

Segregation of incompatable materials, oxidisers and flammables being an obvious no-no.

Will you be using any agency staff and incorperating shift work, these will need to be managed accordingly.

I'm sure there are many other items, but thats just a few that popped into my head.

Pete

Might want to have a look at this issued by the HSE.

Don't forget if you have roller shutter doors and dock levellers these come under LOLER too.  More information about what you are storing would be useful as well the types of MHE use so that a better response would be given.  PM me if you need anything more, I'm sitting in a high bay VNA warehouse as I type so I might be able to help with more information.

Just for reference, roller shutter doors and dock levellers do not come under LOLER, they come under PUWER.

HSG76 as already mentioned is a very good, detailed guidance document.

That and lots of other good stuff is available from the HSE logistics page: http://www.hse.gov.uk/logistics/index.htm

Dock levellers are PUWER - but our roller shutter doors are the sort that come under LOLER due to the type of door lifting system and the way they work.  Nothing is ever as simple as you think!!

Be very interested to know when roller shutter doors are covered by LOLER – it was always my understanding that LOLER applied to lifting a load and the door is not a load but part of the equipment hence PUWER – Can you enlighten us anymore Hsquared14?  Thank you.
