Morning all We have a number of VDU users that we provide vision tests and glasses if necessary via a corporate eyecare scheme. We also provide some staff with prescription safety glasses if required. My question is, are we obliged to let these employees book their appointments during working hours? whats your opinion? Thanks

Wherever I've worked it has always been in working hours because it is in effect a requirement of their job to have the eye test.

It is working time regardless of when people actually attend for vision tests. Effectively if not they would be undertaking 'working' for free.
PPE must be provided free of charge, including any required testing etc for suitability. Also included spectacles for using computers etc

Section 9 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act, 1974 comes to mind...
This provision extends to section 5 of the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment ) Regulatins 1992.
