Can anyone tell me if there is a legal requirement to store documents relating to AOV and emergency lighting servicing within social housing schemes to be stored on site and if so any suggestions as to type of fire proof cabinets
Many thanks

I am surprised at the number of people who begin their threads with ‘Is it a legal requirement…?’ Legal requirements are those written into legislation. If it is not in the legislation, it is not a legal requirement. Nobody can sneak in extra legal requirements without altering the legislation. The government announce any changes to legislation well in advance and usually includes a consultation period before adopting it. Guidance (from whatever source) is just that guidance. Standards including ISO, EN and British Standards are not a legal requirement but are just a way for you to demonstrate that you are working to an agreed standard. When someone turns up on your doorstep and tells you that you have to spend x number of ££££s to be legally complaint as the “regs have changed”, you should show them the door: they are low level conmen (or con-women).

The issue that you have is that people doing these checks are often from in house and contractors so would not necessarily have access to the same system if you wanted to store/record electronically and when the FB arrive to inspect they want immediate access and the person (if there is one) accompanying them around may not know where the records are.
