Hi all, I'm putting together a ladder/stepladder presentation for work and I'd like to include some up-to-date stats of accidents in the workplace (fatal and non-fatal) preferably from last year, if not, as close in recent history as possible. However, whilst I've checked HSE for stats (and it shows 7% of fatal accidents came from falls at height during 16/17) I can't seem to locate anywhere (including RoSPA, ladder association etc) a specific breakdown of fall at height accidents that show specific numbers for ladders/stepladders. Is this possible? If so, where can I find it? Many thanks.

Will it actually enhance your presentation to have 'statistics'?
There are plenty of examples out there (24 hours A&E, Helimed TV) not as many fatalities these days, but plenty of injuries - more than RIDDOR, as may not be in scope, or a domestic situation. There is a old (2004) research report on ladder safety (RR205) and the author cites some data and sources, whether these have dried up, who knows.
The fact is that ladders slip and fall, and people slip and fall from them.
The outcome consequence is down to chance. I suggest that your audience will kinda know that ladders can be dangerous - the key is how to use them safely (and RR205 is illuminating in this regard). You may also have 'learning' anecdotes waiting to be told by your audience to make it more real and interactive.

You might like to look at yesterday's SHP as the Ladder council are advertising a free ladder pack in there.

Unfotunately they no longer provide a detailed breakdown of the accidents by type (havent for a few years now) which is a shame as I always found it useful for research purposes in the past but now its pretty redundant. I'll send you a PM with some of the older data I have on file (if I can find it lol)

Thanks for all your responses.
grim72 - Yeh if you can, fantastic thanks. It is a shame as the data would be nice.
Tigers - I'll take a look at that, thanks.
aud - I think it will 'enhance' so much so as to 'hit the nail' on the head to the workers here that use of WAH equipment (including ladders and stepladders etc) isn't as trival as some people make it out to be and that in reality, accidents can and do happen involving them and in some cases, they can result in RIDDOR reportable accidents and fatalities.
