Hi All, First time posting but I wanted to gauge your responses to help me determine our process on site. We have a lot of visitors to our warehouse. Most are delivery drivers, some are contractors. We do detailed site inductions for all staff and longer term visitors or regulars and contractors but not for delivery drivers such as HGV deliveries and pick ups. Delivery drivers will often walk into the warehouse to the WH managers office to sort the collection/delivery etc. We have suitable controls around safety barriers, marked walkways and guards etc but I'm concerned about the drivers that wonder in and aren't aware of our site or our emergency plans etc. This is especially relevent to drivers who have never visited before and contractors who bring onsite new staff members who have not been inducted or notified us of such. Clearly we need a plan to capture inductions in the latter case. My issue is as follows, it wouldn't be practical to formally induct delivery drivers, but we it be best practice to provide them with site specific information at the security gate around pedestrian access and the general overview of the site?. We really need to start asking the question "Have you been to site before"?. I'm worried a driver could get hit by a FLT or be unaware of the emergency escape routes. Any examples would be greatly appreciated.
