Good evening,

I work for a Gardening/landscaping company of about 30 employees. Currently im reviewing our Company Terms and Conditions and have found that there is no real mention of Health and Safety at all. Can anyone here advise what we are required to include from a legal and H&S standpoint?

Many thanks in advance!

Trevor

Read and digest this http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg449.pdf. Then look at your business see what applies, find more information about specifics eg use of pesticides and other horticultural chemicals, manual handling, PPE. At some point you will decide you might need some outside support. Look at getting H&S consultant in- many live on this forum. Not all are IOSH registered; some are free range.

All my clients detail employees roles and responsibilities in their health and safety manual. This section is issued to them and agree to comply with them and sign to this effect. A summary is also included in their contract of employment

Company Terms & Conditions OR Terms & Conditions of employment?

One defines the contract with suppliers/customers the other with employees

The former needs to be very specific as there are liabilities which must be considered and adressed as part of the contractual arrangements, the later can be a simple sentence regarding following company H&S policy and arrangements
