I thought I had seen everything when I look at the wierd and wonderful ways people try to save money on health and safety but no there are still people out there with novel ways of endangering lives to save a couple of quid. My latest gem last week was the client who had put a string washing line in the fire doors to act as the cold smoke seal and then stapled it in place.

I would imagine that members have seen some wonderful examples of how to put lives at risk and invite examples that could be used in training sessions

I would sack the chippy that did that, as that's literally money for old rope :)

I once came across the most perfect set of double fire doors installed in their own door set and looked really good.

I then had a peep above the suspended ceiling and found 'nothing' and I mean 'nothing'.  No fire barrier at all above the fire doors.

They’ll be hung out to dry if they are caught

Some of these comments are well ropey but I thought I would string a couple together myself and peg them into the conversation to give them an airing

Given enough rope they will hang themselves.
