COVID 19 has been a reportable ID since 5/3/20 but in a recent report the numbers do not tally with what we are told,please advise what is he reason for this?

Might help if you posted the figures you are querying.

The reports announced daily by the news outlets are Public Health figures.

In keeping with RIDDOR it is only a counted as an Industrial Disease WHEN it is in connection with work so a virology laboratory working directly with the virus, a dedicated hospital ward treating Covid patients and not just because someone was at work with someone who tested positive.
