Hi Guys

Currently hold Nebosh L3 with little hands on experience and not in a safety related role. Thinking about doing the NVQ L3. I feel doing this course would not only give me a work based experience but also potential employers would take me seriously considering my little hands on experience. If you have done this course, what was your situation before you enrolled on it and also what was the experience like?

Hi

You have a difficult call to make, as the quaflications are at the same level, even though you would be deomnstrating competence not just knoweldge. I would be more inclined to start on the level 4 and use your current role and any voluntary ones you could get invovled in to start on that route. You could review risk assessments at work in your own time and ask your H&S person to go over them for feedback.

Does that sound like a possiblity?

regards

Linda

I would go straight for the level 5 NVQ, Level 3 is equivalent to the NEBOSH national general cert

Koif I did exactly what you are suggesting went back and did Level 3 NVQ having already gained the NEBOSH general Level 3 in my opinion a big mistake take note of the other replies and go for the NVQ level 5 I think it is now and dont waste your time going backwards all I did was waste 9 months. Just bear in mind that NVQ is work based so you will need access to H&S information at your place of employment dig out HSG 65 as it tends to be based on this and is a good starting point.
