I have read plenty of advice on various posts on volunteering to gain experience. I have enquired to several organisations and awaiting some replies. However I am interested in getting members thoughts on if you are giving H&S advice for free do you still need to get public liability insurance to protect you from your advice if it turns out bad.

Advice is advice irrespective of whether it is free or paid for so liabilities exist. Think about it and then move cautiously but do not limit yourself as life is all about talking risks and sitting there doing noting whilst waiting for work does nobody any good especially your CV and if U need help just post a question on this site!

Sound advice from Bob.
The recipient organisation would have a vested interest in your PLI and perhaps they might be willing to pay for it?
