Has anyone recently done COSHH assessments for a hairdresser and if so did you carry out individual assessments for the products or did you group them together on a single sheet, (table form)?
The COSHH Regs. do allow for that and it would certainly save lots of time.
I'm currently awaiting a copy of the Guide to H&S of Salon Hair Products in the post.

Perhaps the following might be of interest.
Last year the EU funded a project, "Safehair", the aim being to develop guidelines that could be applied across the EU to reduce the incidence and prevalence of occupational contact dermatitis among hairdressers. A series of meetings were held with representatives from across the EU including dermatologists, hairdressing organisations, e.g. the British Hairdressers Federation, HABIA, insurance providers, etc. This culminated in agreement for a document, called the "Declaration of Dresden", finally signed in Dresden last September. It is a fairly basic document, but one that sets down certain simple but effective guidance.
We are now awaiting further funding, that hopefully will be forthcoming in the near future, that will allow the second part of the project, namely from the document to develop practical tools that those involved in health and safety in the hairdressing trade can use to make the workplace safer.
If you would like a copy of the Dresden document let me have your e-mail off the forum and I will e-mail you a copy.

I say that it does not matter which template etc is used as long as its suitable & sufficient as done properly the time factor will be the same eitherway will it not?

Chris - thanks for the information, you certainly know your stuff.
Bob - if it is suitable and sufficient the time factor may be the same, however I like to produce work that will be easy to read and also to understand. Some templates I see are very off putting.
Further I try to encourage employers to carry out assessments themselves once I have got them started off.
