I'm looking at booking leave to attend this course, I was wondering if anyone has achieved this certification and is it well respected in Oil and Gas circles ?

I'm looking at HOTA and Petrofac, Petrofac seems expensive for 5 days but do they have better trainers than HOTA ?

I'm working for NATO/ISAF in Kabul completing my C&G OSH Level 4 in the Fire Dept here and looking to move back into Oil and Gas in the next year, any help will be appreciated.

Brian.

Hi Brian,
If you're looking for an (onshore) HSE Advisor's role, normal requirements are NEBOSH Diploma plus 5 years oil & gas/petrochemical experience
For an offshore role, most candidates progress from another offshore discipline after 5 years experience (often via Safety Rep involvement).
If you've got the offshore experience, the Oil & Gas Tech. Cert. may help your cause, but, if you haven't the offshore experience, it won't trump a candidate with experience but who is lacking the NEBOSH Cert. As many will testify, it's getting the offshore experience that's very difficult. Going straight into an HSE role without it is virtually unheard of.
Regards,
Ross
