I want to identify precisely which legislation defines the need for the following roles

Principle duty holder
Prime Duty holder
Senior appointed person
Appointed person
Competent person

I’ve goggled with no luck, I had a feeling it was in E@W regs but it’s not.

Hi,

Definition of "Competent Person" can be found in BS7671.

I believe that the term "Appointed Person" is now known as "Authorised Person" but not sure if any legislation actually defines it. There would appear to be 2 types in the electrical world - AP(LV) and AP(HV).

Sorry can't be more help at this time of night but it might be worth contacting the IET or JIB for an answer?
