The company I work for have just taken over than another firm, with its own safety dept.
As the safety dept will now be increasing from 4 safety advisers to 6, I was wondering what sort of set up other companies have for their dept in terms of divide of responsibilities especially as we will now be over a large geographical area and working out of 3 different offices.

You could try -

supervisor/manager for control of all advisers
dividing by specialisms
dividing by area
dividing by quantity of work
or ultimately - a free for all which probably won't work!

whatever, your decision should be based upon company dynamics, the requirements of the company and how the work is likely to be spread between the 6 advisors and the expectations of the 'controlling mind' eg the directors, owners, employees etc.
