Good Morning all, Yes I have done a cursory check of the Manufacturers web site etc but non the wiser at this point hence seeking the knowledge of more regular users. In respect of JLG'S etc we use for lifting people into position to carry out certain tasks, with a SWL of 227 kg or 500lbs how does your company interpret this figure, i.e number of people, tools and equipment up to the SWL limit or do you allow a safety factor. Is there a safety factor built into this figure, at fully extended, at ground level or other elevation , fully loaded with 500lbs on board over rough terrain, or any surface or do we allow for it and or load to the gunnels. SWL is just that and should normally apply at all limits of operation. All loadings (people, tools and materials) count towards SWL. There is no requirement for you as the operator to derate that figure, unless the manufacturer has stipulated differing SWL for differing modes of operation. If you are at all in doubt, you should contact the manufacturer directly.
