I am I right in thinking that the Watyer Industries four levels of national classification for types of confined space entry i.e.
NC 1 – Low risk shallow entry with adequate natural or mechanical ventilation where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding e.g. meter pits, valve chambers, booster pumping station NC 2 – Vertical unobstructed access with continuous attachment to a man riding hoist or similar rescue device NC 3 – When it is not possible to have a person permanently attached to a safety line. Usually it will be a team entry which moves away from the entry point e.g. ballast tanks, crude oil tanks. Working without an attached rescue line and includes working away from the point of entry NC 4 – Non standard entries involving complex operations which introduce additional risks and require specific controls and rescue arrangements e.g. mechanical hazards, physical complexity of system, introduced hazards
....are being considered by the HSE for use in the Confined Space Regulations?

these 'classifications' are used to describe levels of entry into confined spaces for the purpose of the City and Guilds qualifications Scheme Number 6150. See cityandguils.com and enter 6150 into the search box to view more...
