Wondering if anyone can help. I'm looking for some audit templates that I could review/modify for use within our organisation.
We currently have a scoring audit system that is basically a 1-10 score, one being no controls ten being optimum controls. The issue with this system is that a lot of the questions are a yes or no. I'm looking to introduce a new system that is simple but effective maybe a traffic light system or even a scoring system that is reduced? If anyone has a system they wouldn't object to sharing that would be great or even point me towards some commercially available systems again that would help.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

Watchy, why do you use these types of audit? I am a qualified auditor and find the best way of doing it is to taylor the system to the cpmany by using ther company targets as the most achievable target. Any better ways or improvements will come as a result of getting better as the audit process is applied. The use of generic types of audit firstly will not cover all aspects of how your comapny operates and secondly covers issues that are irrelevant to your company. Have you thought about developing your own audit system based upon what your company does?

Hi Bob,
I am looking basically for the structure of an audit in the form of a template, all the actual audit criteria would be inputted by myself based on what the specifics of our organisation are and on what we are auditing against etc. I have an audit qualification myself although it is something which needs refreshing to be fair.
I do understand that a generic audit with questions would be far from suitable.
Thanks again

Watchy, I developed my own audit protocols based upon what is currently being done and checked that they were complying with what was set out in them. I also looked for ways to improve the mthod of doing something and checking it delivered compliance with the law. Any company has its own way of doing things and found that generic protocols often failed to take account of the little variations that in the real world often arise. I 'scored' them simply on the following questions, Are they doing what is laid down in the procedure, does it deliver legal requirements and how can it be improved. This method checked the three basic things, are they doing what is expected, does it comply with the law and how can it be improved. I worked on the basis of do they follow a good process, does it meet the minimum legal requirement and how can we do it better. The do it better bit was developed by the end user as they often have the experience and knowledge needed to improve. Hope this helps.
