In a company a number of staff have been trained to use powered pallet trucks by an external training organisation. If another model of powered pallet truck is purchased (slightly different layout of controls, higher load capacity) for use in the same area and on the same tasks, would you say each operator needs to be certificated for each model of truck?

Unless this equipment falls into a diffrent bita group i would think that equipment familiarisation should suffice,for clarity i would contact the manufacturer they should be able to confirm and arrange (free) i would imagine equipment familiarisation to operators.

Agree with Dennish.
However, does the heavier load effect stopping distance in any way?
Might be off the mark but I know that these trucks don't always come to an immediate dead stop for example when the handle is released. I guess if they did the load would spill. Would a heavier load cause the truck to roll on by a significant factor? If "yes" then might be worth briefing operators before they find out the hard way?
