OK, well, fire DVDs is one thing, but how about the cost of e-learning? One of my team is sourcing some providers so we can evaluate their products, but the one thing he can't get any clues about is how much their service might cost. He says it's like Saville Row tailors; so much depends on what you want, and anyway it's vulgar to ask. So if anybody has experience of commissioning e-learning what kind of ballpark figure (say per head) might we be looking at? John

Hi jwk, one of the very large insurance companies provides access to a good e-learning package at no cost as part of its liability insurance offering. Your insurance broker should have details of which insurer this is. Other insurers may also be able to assist, although if you are looking for bespoke courses then this post can be ignored.

Hello Jwk My organisation was very keen on e-learning for a number of years as a cheap way of ticking the training box. However, the dawning realisation has been that this was all it did - tick a box. It simply was not effective at training people to do the right thing. The HSE have now made it plain that when they are assessing training they don't care how it is delivered, provided it was effective. However, we could not demonstrate that with e-learning. In fact it seems we have spent a fortune, but have not got much of a return. Tread carefully!
