Has anybody got any evidence that wearing of flip flops and open toed foot wear are detrimental to driving light commercial vehicles.
Scernario male employees wear closed in shoes / trainers, female employees wear flip flops open toed sandals
I know I can go down the R/A route, but I would be interested to hear from others on the subject, any ripped off toe nails etc.

Apart from the driving element what happens when they alight their vehicle... flip flops in commercial employment activities?

Or the flip flop gets tangled under the pedal as you move your foot from pedal to pedal, or partly come off.
I had problems once when driving in wellies, the top of the welly jammed under the seat, keeping my foot on the accelerator. The hedge stopped me well enough. Not done it since.

As it's Friday I thought I'd point out the billions of drivers in Africa & Asia who have no other option. If you've ever seen driving conditions in India or Egypt you'll know that to stay alive whilst driving there you need to be very good driver.

How many of 'your' drivers wear 'inappropriate' footwear?
How many journeys?
How many incidents?

that was a good Question....
its better to go by this type of inquiry/question.
with this you will know if you would require your employee to wear proper shoes or not.
but if you are working in construction itself specially in ME every employer will require you to wear Safety Shoes.
