iv obviously got to much thinking to do before my dip exams exams in a couple of weeks so here goes . ok we have seen the flares being lit at pre determined songs at glasto . am i right in thinking this would be taken into account . ie . risk control system someone gets injured/burned possibly worse . would this be risk retention with knowledge ? self -insurance ,the loss would be funded by the org ? as i say i could have picked this up wrong ?

Yes, the organisers would no doubt have to provide certain assurances that the event would be properly and safely managed in order to obtain PLI. Any injury to an individual attributable to the event's management pursuant to a breach of statutory duty/negligence would be covered by the PLI, either as a out of court settlement or in court.

If you ever get a chance to see a presentation on the planning that goes into puttng on Glastonbury I would thoroughly recommend it
The work and thought that goes into temporarily putting a fair sized town onto a few fields in Somerset is absolutely astonishing.

I have worked on the Festival and the H&S is certainly improving, Contractor competence is a major issue, a lot of the smaller contractor have been working / volunteering for many years and are a but stuck in their ways, and sadly the festival would be the same with out these people.

There is a report of a body being found in one of the toilet areas? The chap is apparently chair of David Cameron's Oxfordshire constituency. The death of someone that high up will be well investigated.
