Hi Guys
Safety Audit and Inspection. How do they differ?

I use inspection to look at the physical elements, and an audit to look at compliance with legal or company requirements- checking documentation and the such like. In the audit there is also an element of an inspection.
Hope this helps

When I inspect I walk the workplace and look for hazards, people not following safe systems of work etc.
When I audit I tend to look more at the paperwork and try and provide a report with some numerical data - such as 100 CoSHH assessment required, 80% completed. etc
Audit is more in depth. Inspection is more like day to day monitoring.
My view any way.

do agree with motorhead & martin1, i do work as a safety inspector and at the sametime i was also an internal auditor of EMS.
more of my time was spent working as safety inspector looking after the employee of the company and inspecting work place.
when time required us as an auditor thats the time i look after the compliance of department that i have to audit with the company, so as an auditor you have to look after legislation and compliance
hope it clear you up.....cheers
