I am desperately trying to find health and safety related photographs for our new website and I must have looked at thousands of really bad photographs so far. Does anybody know of a site that sells health and safety related photos?

Many thanks.

Thank you Descarte8. Unfortunately, I am looking for non-hazard photographs.

Regards.

Might be worth contacting suppliers, contractors etc etc

Try

http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

or

http://www.sxc.hu/

for free non-commercial use, you can pay for commercial use.

Or http://www.istockphoto.com/

For pure commercial use.

I have used some of the SXC and freedigital photos within the Aviation and Aerospace group website and my internal company intranet.

If you have a look on a popular internet auction site and search for health and safety CD, you can also usually find copyright free CD’s with safety signs/images on.

Forgot to add, you may need to search through them to find the image you want.

Try also thinking laterally, for example if you are thinking of first aid, you may find searching for plaster, doctor, nurse etc. may illustrate the article just as well as a first aid box.

Depending on how many photos you want/need and how often you are updating your site in may be beneficial to commission your own photographer.

Just make sure that if the photographer retains copyright that you have relevant use built within the contract costs. A decent photographer should be able to explain where they want to stand on copyright.

Alternatively, if you have an employee that is into photography they may wish to gain experience and build up their portfolio. They may welcome the time out from the normal duties to help you with photos for the site.
