Has anyone got accident statistics associated with portable woodworking machinery, specifically looking for accidents involving "chop" or "mitre" saws which most carpenters seem to use nowdays for skirting boards, architraves, etc.

Thanks

Hi Max,

Sorry, don't have any figures but I expect you will find that the incidence rate is very low.

Hi Max ,
Ihave had one operative cutting insulation for fire protection cut his finger off got some nice pictures joking apart I would think this is more common than you think I had another case where the blade shattered due to incorrect use of the saw , and a further case where the saw was not secured to a purpose made work bench but on a makeshift bench thus the saw fell of the bench causing injury to the operative luckily it was only a scratch on the leg but if the saw was being used this could be a different matter

Thanks

Chris

I would say that there are more accidents that U think but getting pictures etc is another thing noting that most users [in my view] must be the very small companies and 1 man bands who would not necessarily stop work nor take time off etc for anything but the most bad of accidents and use of such kit can be anywhere including the street with the public walking past

best of luck with your search
